Quarter Back Ranks- 2009 Season

The only time you will ever see me with a top ranked quarterback is during an auction draft and I get him at an unbelievably low price. Why, you may ask? Well there is always value with QBs in week to week match ups. There’s always people available on the waiver wire that have a good match up, much like kickers and defences. This year sees the return of Brady, who now has competition from multiple sources from all across the league. The thing is, it’s almost impossible to predict how many TDs a QB is going to throw. Yards will come but they can throw it to the one and simply run it in. al that being said here we go.

Tier One: the Dynamic Duo

1. Brady
2. Brees

Can’t go wrong here unless something “unfortunate” happen to Brady again. Brady returns to a team basically intact from the year he threw a mind boggling 50 touchdown passes. Brees is coming off a year where he almost broke the single season passing record, hard to go wrong there.

Tier Two:

3. A. Rodgers
4. P. Manning
5. P. Rivers
6. K. Warner

My man crush on Rodgers can only go so far. I think he’s going to be excellent this, no bones about it. The problem now is that I am not alone on this one. I’ve seen him go in the first round of drafts, which is almost as absurd as seeing the Ravens D go in the 3rd. So if you want him you’ll need to expend a pick that he’s not worth on him. Manning is Manning, you know what you’re getting. At least 30 TDs and 4000 yards. My main man “The RIV” is just awesome and is only going to get better. People are down on Warner after playing 20 games last year but if he can keep healthy he’s going to be a monster.

Tier Three:

7. M. Schaub
8. T. Romo
9. M. Ryan
10. McNabb
11. D. Garrard

The only thing that’s going to stump to Schaub this season are injuries. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen with Sexy Rex Grossman now working with Dan “Safety Dance” Orlovsky now working as the backup tandem. Romo can get back to elite status if he can find away to used all his receivers and two excellent tight ends. Ryan will continue to develop and now has some more toys with the arrival of Tony Gonzalez. McNabb is always consistent when he plays and that brings us to David Garrard. He’s pretty good. Seriously. He has been a top 10 QB the last two years and get a bit of an upgrade with Holt coming in. He’s signed to a be contract of his job security is unquestioned, what’s not to like. He even moves pretty fast for a fat guy.

Tier four:

12. Cutler
13. Hasselbeck
14. Favre
15. Orton
16. Palmer
17. Flacco
18. Hill
I’m not sold on Cutler but that could be completely wrong. I am sold on Hasselbeck on being the comeback player of the year. Seattle is going to win that division and Hasslebeck can realistically get to 30 TDs and
4000 yards. Farve can be productive solely based on the weapons around him. Orton comes into a better situation in Denver can aimlessly thrown the ball up with the best of them, if Marshall returns, watch out. People are pegging Palmer as a huge sleeper but I don’t think his body is going to allow of him to return to his vintage form. Two guys a love this year are Joe Flacco and Shaun Hill. I don’t really know why I like Hill so much but whenever I see him play he just gets the job done. A breakout campaign from Josh Morgan and the eventual working in of Michael Crabtree could go a long way into making him into a top 10 QB. He can be close to what my personal hero Tyler Thigpen was last year. I don’t see a reason why Flacco can’t keep up with Matt Ryan in development, he could realistically rush for an extra 3-6 TDs this year, increasing his value.

Tier five: The rest

19. E. Manning
20. B. Roethlisberger
21. J. Delhomme
22. M. Cassel
23. J. Campbell
24. T. Edwards
25. J Russell

I Hate Matt Cassel this year. He was a system QB and more importantly he’s blocking the aforementioned Thigpen from playing. I really don’t like any of these guys to tell you the truth, not one will end up on any of my teams but if you like them go ahead. The only one from this group that is intriguing is JaMarcus ( Side Note: did you know by the year 2014 the name JaMarcus will be more poplar than Marcus). Anyways, this is the NFL and The \raiders will eventually be good. Garcia got cut so he is the cut, he could be worth the flyer. The problem with everyone else is that you know their ceilings. The Berg isn’t going to throw for 30 Tds , neither is Eli. Campbell will be lucky to keep his job all year. Delhomme could rebound a bit but all anyone can remember from him was his “Terrific” playoff games vs. the cards last year.
